LICENSED SKYDIVERS

Welcome to Thai Sky Adventures!

Thai Sky Adventures is a premier USPA-affiliated drop zone, strictly adhering to the Safety Regulations as outlined in the “Skydiver’s Information Manual.” Conveniently located at Nong Khor Reservoir, we are 96 km south of Suvarnabhumi Airport and 42 km north of Pattaya, the vibrant city known for its lively atmosphere and attractions.

Drop Zone Rules & Requirements

We strive to provide a seamless and safe experience for all experienced jumpers. Here are our key regulations:

  • No Reservations Needed: Licensed jumpers can simply show up with their license, logbook, and equipment. We aim to get you jumping as soon as possible.
  • Documentation: All jumpers must present their License and Log Book. Refresher training is required if your last jump exceeds the allowable time period.
  • License Acceptance: We accept licenses and memberships issued by FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) contracting countries or states.

Essential Gear & Safety Guidelines

  • AAD Requirement: Automatic Activation Device (AAD) is mandatory.
  • Reserve Re-pack Cycle: Every 6 months.
  • Helmets: Required until you achieve a “B” License.
  • Camera Use: Not allowed until you have completed 200 jumps.
  • Tandem Camera Restriction: No student-mounted cameras for tandem jumps.
  • Wind Limit: 14 mph for non-licensed jumpers.
  • Deployment Altitude: Minimum of 2,500 feet for “D” License holders.
  • Runway and Spiralling Rules: No crossing or spiralling below 1,000 feet.
  • Intoxication Policy: No jumping under the influence, including hangovers.
  • Tandem Jump Etiquette: Fun jumpers must not interfere with tandem jumps.

Equipment Checks & Maintenance

Proper equipment maintenance is crucial for your safety. Here’s how we ensure your gear is in top condition:

  • Regular Inspections: Includes checking the container, handles, buckles, cables, pilot chute, etc.
  • Reserve Packing: Must be in date and done by a certified rigger. If there’s any doubt, a re-pack may be required (see our price page).
  • Main Canopy Integrity: We may unpack your main canopy to check the lines. Lines should be changed every 250-450 jumps, depending on the type.
  • Canopy Wear Check: If the canopy appears worn or sun-faded, a thumb test (pressing your thumb through the material) will be performed.

Options for Non-Compliant Equipment

If you have any objections to our equipment checks, you have two options:

  1. Use Rental Gear: We offer rental rigs that are regularly inspected and approved.
  2. Jump Elsewhere: You are free to jump at another drop zone if you prefer.

Experienced Skydiver FAQs

Do I need USPA Membership?

We accept any FAI License and qualifications. So, no, you don’t need to join USPA, though you are more than welcome to sign up if you feel it would benefit you.

Thai Sky Adventures carries third-party liability covering all jumpers, so you are covered. You are not covered by us for any personal accident.

No, sorry. Freefly is forbidden on our rental equipment (another reason to buy your own rig).

No, once again we encourage you to buy your own (and we sell all this stuff). You can rent a jumpsuit, helmet, and altimeter if needed, but priority goes to students doing AFF/A License.

You can just pay the packers directly and don’t try giving “special instructions” (I like this, I like that). The packers are all Thai nationals; they don’t jump and have been trained to “Monkey see, monkey do.” Our malfunction rate is 1 in 3000, which is 10 times better than the worldwide average, so drop your rig, pay, collect your rig, and go jump.

Sure, just call a friend or family member and get them to scan or screenshot your last three jumps and both sides of your license and email or message it to you. That will be perfectly acceptable.

People come and go, so this question needs to be addressed on the day. Call WhatsApp or email before you come to know what’s available.

We have quite a lot of rental rigs from 135 all the way up to 280 square feet. We made rig rental deliberately expensive, so hopefully, you will invest in your own equipment. Also, priority for gear is given to AFF/A License students.
